The correct shoes are an important part of learning to dance.
1. You cannot dance in the shoes you walked-in on.
- You need not purchase a new pair of shoes – select an acceptable pair from your closet and clean the soles of all dirt and debris.
- Please carry this second pair of shoes into The Ballroom with you and immediately change into them once you have arrived.
- You may carry your belongings and your street shoes into class with you. After class has ended, please do not put on your street shoes until you are about to walk out the front door.
2. Our shoe policy exists for your benefit as well as ours.
- Street shoes ruin dance floors – however it is important to understand that the correct shoes are a very important part of learning to dance.
- Improper shoes will not only make it more difficult for you while learning to dance, but they could also cause discomfort or injury during dancing.
3. Acceptable shoes are suede-soled dance shoes or dress shoes with hard tan leather soles.
- Ladies! We highly recommend you wear shoes that stay on your foot when you walk so that you may focus on learning to dance, rather than focusing on keeping your shoes on your feet.
Alternative choices are socks or white-soled tennis shoes / sneakers.
- Please note that these are acceptable, but not recommended, alternatives due to the possibility of slipping or sticking to the floor too much.
- Unacceptable choices are black-soled tennis shoes, flip-flops, sneakers, or anything you wore in with you.
Street shoes are not allowed on the hardwood floors of The Ballroom!
Please be conscious of your shoes – especially during the rainy season! Most people know they should not wear street shoes on a gymnasium floor because improper shoes can damage the expensive wood floorboards. Please use the same respect and caution at The Ballroom and at any dance studio.

Group Class & Workshop Policies
Pre-registration is necessary for all classes, and your space in class is not guaranteed until your full payment is received. Credit card payments are charged at time of registration for the full amount owed.
If you drop a class with LESS than 48-hours notice prior to the first night of class, there are NO refunds, partial refunds, or transfers.
Registration fees are only transferrable if you provide MORE than 48-hours notice prior to the first night of class.
- You must choose a future class that begins within 6 months of the class you dropped.
If you drop a class after attending at least the first night of class, you may transfer into a future session of that same class from the point where you left off, at no additional charge.
- Example: If you attended the first two nights of class and are unable to attend the remainder, you will be allowed to return to that same class at the third night of a future session.
- To be eligible for this drop/resume option, you must (1) attend at least the first night of class, and (2) contact us before the final night of class to notify us of your need to drop.
- Re-enrollment in a future session must also be arranged in advance.
Please bring a second pair of shoes to wear in class. (See Shoe Policy for details of acceptable shoes and the required procedures for using them in class.)
By submitting an online or in-person registration, you agree to the following:
- Your payment is non-refundable.
- Payments are only transferrable if you provide us more than 48-hours notice prior to the first night of class.
- Payments by VISA or Mastercard will be charged at time of registration for the full and correct amount owed.
